Ave Maria and The Soul of Chant 2 CD Box Set Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos |

|
Ave Maria and The Soul of Chant. This impressive 2-CD set belongs in the home of every Catholic. The chant is exquisite, and the cost is low: Only $11 per CD! Ave Maria Ave Maria was recorded in 1956 and 1957 in the ancient Monastery's choir by Jose Luis Abascal, technician in the ancient Fonopolis de Madrid Studios. The master recording, affected by the passage of time, has been carefully restored to reflect the essence of this historical piece. The Soul of Chant This compilation of five Gregorian Masses was produced at one of the most significant moments for the Choir of the Monastery of Silos. As Spain emerged from its civil war, the Benedictine Monks managed to acquire rudimentary recording equipment and capture its Gregorian Masses for posterity. The result, as evidenced here, is magnificent and moving, radiating a profound spirituality, and speaks to us from a past which is almost impossible to reconstruct.
