About The Author
The Camerata Scholars were formed in the Summer of 2011, and this production of A Blessed Day has Dawned, is their inaugural recording. The Scholars include both veteran members of the Camerata, some of whom have been singing together for over 20 years, as well as newer members, particularly students of Saint Vincent College.
They are dedicated to the study and performance of a cappella sacred music in liturgies and in concerts, especially the works of the Renaissance and contemporary periods. Through their performances, educational outreach, and the sponsoring of Choral Scholarships at Saint Vincent College, the Camerata Scholars aim to be a catalyst for a broader and more profound appreciation of the inheritance of Catholic sacred music.
Fr. Stephen Concordia, O.S.B., a Benedictine monk since 1989, is assistant professor of music at Saint Vincent College where he directs the Camerata and the Camerata Scholars. He is also Choirmaster of Saint Vincent Archabbey and the director of the Saint Vincent Schola Gregoriana. He holds degrees in Piano and Theoretical Studies from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, and diplomas in Organ and Gregorian chant from the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, Rome.
